No New Year’s party is complete without new year resolutions. Whether you achieve them or not is another story but, let’s be honest, we all love to have New Year resolutions. How to Celebrate New Year’s Eve with Coco?

Looking to celebrate the new year with your pooch? That's great! Pets and emotional support animals are with us for a reason and one of them is to be with us through thick and thin. New Year is a big time of the year and this is why everyone is very excited about it.

Whether you are planning to throw a New Year party or traveling to another town to stay with your extended family, there is no reason to leave Coco behind. If throwing a party, there are some things that you must take care of.

Besides celebrating the arrival of the new year, your ESAs safety is also important. In this blog, we have discussed some ideas about celebrating the New Year event with Coco around and how to keep him safe.

Plan Beforehand

Planning is key to any occasion or task's success. Make a list of all the tasks that you are going to do at the party. Make an extensive list and then break it into several smaller and functional lists and plans.

These lists include the list of food also and remember, you have a special guest also. Make something special for Coco like boiled chicken or turkey, sugar and saltless cookies and many other dog-friendly treats.

Get New Year Clothes for Coco

Everyone loves when they get new clothes and Coco will enjoy it. Buy some New Year themed costumes and props like New Year dog hats, bandanas, ties and special happy New YEar dog collars to make him feel extra loved and special.

Keep a Close Eye on It

Since you will be having people around, it is important that you keep a close eye on your pooch. Having so many people around can make Coco anxious and somewhat skittish. Prepare its private place with some cushions, toys, dog treats, and some warm wraps. 

If Coco is a super friendly and excited type it will be no surprise if they would jump on your guests in joy, which brings us to our fourth point.

Tell your Guests about Coco

Your party guests already know about Coco and that you have him as your emotional support animal but when calling them, to invite for the party, tell them that Coco will also be joining you. There could be people who have dog allergies or who may not like your dog jumping on them out of joy.

Therefore, inform them that your beloved canine friend will also be at the party.

Update Coco’s ID Details

No matter how diligently you plan something, there are always chances of accidents. You will be having guests around and with a house full of people, it is quite possible that you lose sight of your beloved doggie friend.

Be prepared for such accidents and update your contact details, if it is not done yet. In case Coco decides to go on a run without your knowledge, contact the nearby pet recovery center to trace and find him.

Stay Away from Fireworks

We know that New Year and fireworks go hand in hand but, many dogs are afraid of loud voices like that of the gunshots, air balloons, and even fireworks. Dogs react to these sounds instinctively and this causes a fight or flight reaction in them.

To keep them calm and under control, stay away from all the loud noises and, of course, the fireworks.
